What the Extended Essay asks
The Extended Essay is a 4,000-word research essay and one of the three core requirements of the IB Diploma. FutureOn Education supports students with topic choice, research questions, structure, argument and academic integrity, always within IB rules: the work stays the student's own.
The IB describes the extended essay as an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper. It is mandatory for students taking the Diploma. If you have been searching for extended-essay tutors, this is the usual brief: help with the question and the shape of the argument, not a ghostwritten essay.

How online Extended Essay tutoring works
Sessions are 1-to-1 and online. There is no local FutureOn classroom. Tutoring is delivered online, including for families in London, with a written report after every session and a free academic manager overseeing the plan.
Most tutors teach the subject. Ours teach the exam. For the Extended Essay, that means the research question, the argument and the honesty rules, not a generic essay club. A run of sessions usually covers:
- A topic the student can actually research, in a subject we tutor, that also fits the school's rules.
- A research question that can be answered properly inside the 4,000-word limit.
- A structure where the argument does the work, rather than a pile of description.
- Academic honesty: sources, citations, and words that stay the student's.
The IB expects a supervisor in the school to guide the essay. We do not replace that supervisor, and we do not sign the essay off.
You'll never have to ask the tutor how it's going: parents get a report after every session, and a free academic manager keeps the plan on track. Gets it in the lesson, forgets it by next week? Between sessions, spaced-repetition flashcards can hold the terminology and the research question, so the next meeting starts where the last one ended.
Across 537 students, 100% have gone on to university and 86% achieved A/A* grades.

Extended Essay questions
What is the Extended Essay word limit?

Will an online Extended Essay tutor write the essay?
No. The essay is the student's own research. We help with choosing a topic, shaping a research question, planning the structure and keeping the argument clear, always within IB rules on academic integrity.
